ZIA Winning Entry! 8/30/2013

This was an entry into a drawing that I did for the Yahoo Group (zentangle_inspired_art).  I did win the prize, but not because of my ZIA, but because my number on the entry was picked.  I enjoyed doing this and thought it looked kind of hippieish  (if that is a word).  I know it has been a long time since I have been on my blogspot, but life is busy and I know no-one is out there reading this.  Maybe I should get a little smarter and invite people to visit this site. (maybe someday)  :)  Oh the prize I won were these fantastic watercolors called Twinkle H2O's that really have some mica in the paint.  Have not mastered the technique for these water colors yet, but I am trying them every few weeks.

Went to a flea-market yesterday and bought embossing powders and a heat gun.  Made a few Valentine hearts out of silver powder with a heart stamp.  Look so pretty!  Maybe someone will get one of these cards I hope to make.  As this is August 30 I may get a few done! HEE HEE!  Hopefully it won't be so long before I try this blog site again!  Bye for now.  Janice

Back again to give this a try!

I know there is no one out there reading this, but thought I should try this blog again!  I will post some of my photos and a few zentangles so you all can see what I have been up to since my last posts.  LOL  Have you heard the term Snowbird, well my husband and I tried this escape this past winter.  We went to Florida, and of course Indiana had the mildest winter in many years.  We really enjoyed our time down south and look forward to the same next year!

Summertime! :)

Now that summer is here I find myself enjoying the outdoors, traveling and gardening, swimming with the grandkids and just taking in the beautiful green that I love.  I harvested my first cucumber of the season and enjoyed it with ranch dressing last night. Yummy!
During June my husband and I flew our small plane to Colorado and then to Nebraska for a family reunion.  We were gone from home about 2 weeks and it was a good relaxing time for us.  Good to see and catch-up with relatives again.
As for my zentangles, I have not been creating as many lately but I still love the zen moments while I am doing this art.  I also enjoyed teaching 3 kids at my kitchen table last week.  They really took to this art form and we laughed and drew for about an hour.
July is full of Birthdays so I need to get shopping.

You all have a Great Summer as I am.

Happy Easter Egg Challenge

This is my contribution to The Diva's Challenge #18.  Not sure if this counts as a tangle, but I have had a little of brain fade lately.  Spring is here and love being outside enjoying the weather before the misquitoes come out.  ( They love me WHY WHY WHY).   I think I will take my pens and paper and go outside and try to do a few tangles.  Have a Happy Easter Everyone!

Welcome to My Site!

To all the visitors of my blog site.

Welcome, this is my first experiment into the world of blogging.  As many of you who know me, I am in no way saying that I am a professional artist or photographer, but would like to say that I have found these two artistic outlets to explore.  They have been working out the right-side of my brain. (IS THAT THE CORRECT ARTSY SIDE OF THE BRAIN?)  Looked it up - very interesting!
Please don't be confused by my Colorado Jan name,  I am living in Indiana and have been for 7 years, but I lived in Colorado for 10 years and So. Calif. before that.   The world of computers and emails really took hold in the 1990's.  I can't seem to change my Internet name hence Colorado Jan I am.
I am a wife for almost 40 years, mother of 3, grandmother of 5 and have mans best friend a puppy named"Moochie".  You will see photos of them in future blogs.
I found out about the world of Zentangle in early October last year by a new friend.  She and my sister Barbara new that I would try this new type of art.  I am a product of the 60's and did do my share of doodling on my peechee folders in high-school.  I have truly enjoyed creating these ZIA's (zentangle inspired art).  I have always loved photography, it is a gene in our family that has been passed down from generation to generation.
Well that is a bit wordy, but oh well.  Hope you come back from time to time.  Enjoy and don't forget to post a comment and anything that interest you.
